12th January 2005 - Exclusive Faithless interview from Virgin Mobile BITES

Faithless, frontman Maxi Jazz has exclusively revealed to Virgin Mobile today that the band will release a new album in April 2005 called 'Faithless Forever'. The new release will be a best-of compilation album following last year's hit album No Roots and has been anxiously anticipated by fans for over a year.

Maxi Jazz caught up with Virgin Mobile's new entertainment service BITES at the recording of the tsunami relief single Give & Let Live and gives the lowdown on the new album. Extracts of the interview below:

What can we expect from Faithless next?

We've got an album coming out in April called Faithless Forever. It's a best of compilation that includes two or three new things we're fiddling around with now. It should be interesting because one of them is a track that didn't make it on to the last album because it wasn't moody enough. It's called Acky Boom and it's very happy and funny and reggae. It's great. We're also doing some live shows in April and May. Other than that, I'm looking to have an easy year!

There's a lot of famous faces here today, how are you finding the atmosphere?

It's always good when musicians get together. We spend our lives in studios so it's nice to come to a place where the likes of Steve Winwood, Jocelyn Brown and Chaka Khan' are all in the same room.

What will you be contributing to the single?

I haven't heard the track yet so I'm not sure but whatever Chaka Khan needs, I'll do it. I'll even make the tea.

Why do you feel it was important to be involved with this project?

As an artist I've been saying for a long time we only have one world. It's significant to me that of all the major disasters that have occurred in my lifetime, this one has hit so many countries. It makes you realise that we're all brothers and sisters and what's happening to them will happen to you too. I'm happy to be involved in anything at all that promotes that vibe.

Give & Let Live is out soon.
